The newswire just about exploded on Friday night with a report on one of the cases being brought by Special Counsel Jack Smith.
Former Trump Chief of Staff, Mark Meadows, has been granted immunity in the January 6 election interference case.
On Tuesday night, it was announced that former Chief of Staff for Donald Trump, Mark Meadows, had apparently worked out an immunity deal with Special Counsel Jack Smith.
However, this does not impact the case where Meadows was named as a codefendant in the Georgia election fraud case.
Meadows reportedly testified before a grand jury, giving explosive testimony that corroborated other staff testimony as well as adding a few more landmines for Trump when his case comes to trial.
According to the report, Meadows told Trump that his election fraud claims were unfounded.
Meadows also reportedly told the court that he told Trump he was deceiving voters by telling them he had won the election even though all votes had not yet been counted on election night. This testimony was corroborated by several other Trump staffers who had already testified.
This is an absolutely crushing blow for Trump, with Meadows being the highest-ranking official to turn on Trump.
This is about everyone looking out for themselves at this point, and there is simply no way these people are going to go to jail for Trump if there is an out available, be it testifying against Trump for immunity or making a plea deal to avoid jail time.
Trump’s hill just got much higher to climb regarding being exonerated.
As I stated above, this is a fairly big deal in terms of hurting Donald Trump’s case.
We are getting to the point, and I know a lot of readers do not want to hear this, but Trump has to consider dropping out of the presidential race.
While he is currently dominating the primary, his numbers get cut in half, according to polling, if he is convicted of a felony. If that is the case, he has no path to victory next November.
These plea deals are starting to stack up, and it now seems more likely than ever that Trump will be convicted in at least one case, if not multiple, and be neck-deep in appeals by the time election day rolls around.
It is an uncomfortable conversation, but it must be had to win back the White House in 2024.
