A key to Democrat success over the years has been minority voters.
We started to see that slip away from Dems in 2016, more so in 2020, and it looks to be a real problem for the Democrat Party in 2024.
Democrats have had a lockdown on minority voters in this country for decades.
In recent years, that has started to slip away. The numbers were not noteworthy in the 2016 and 2020 elections, but they started showing a trend.
Then, in the 2022 cycle, that trend continued, only it was a bit more noticeable. Now, the numbers are really starting to swing, showing a trend that seems to be holding, which means the path to victory for Joe Biden in 2024 will have to be noticeably different from the 2020 election.
In 2020, Joe Biden took 90% of the black vote against Trump. However, in the latest polling for the 2024 election, Biden is only holding 74% of the black vote.
In 2020, Democrats took 91% of the black vote but only managed to take 88% in the 2022 midterm elections.
When you break down the subsets of black voters, you can see where Biden and Democrats are being the hardest hit.
For example, Biden dropped from 91% to 84% among Gen Z and millennial voters. He fell from 87% to 83% in men and 84% to 80% in rural voters. College-educated black voters dropped from 91% to 87%.
The recent election in Louisiana, where Republican Jeff Landry pulled off a big win, was proof of this trend in black voters starting to vote for Republicans.
John Couvillon, a Louisiana Republican pollster, stated:
“Jeff Landry was getting double digits [in heavily Black precincts] once you got outside of the urban areas of Baton Rouge and New Orleans — that very much catches my attention.”
There are a lot of theories out there, with the New York Times recently writing an in-depth report into this particular issue. The report noted several possible reasons, such as:
I agree with some of their points, but it is far from the whole picture. I think the real reason black voters are leaving the Democrat Party is because they are sick and tired of being used by Democrats, while Democrats abandon them the moment the election is over.
If you look at the election cycle, the same issues come up, such as reparations, but it is only a tease, and the black community now realizes this.
Furthermore, the Democrat approach to minority communities is outright insulting. They consistently push giveaways and lower criminal penalties, literally stereotyping all minority voters, specifically black voters, while accusing Republicans of being racist.
Anyone who has read my reports on the various publications for which I write knows that I have been begging Republicans to become more diversified to appeal to more minority voters openly supporting Republicans.
And believe me, there are a LOT of minority conservatives out there who say one thing publicly while voting for Republicans on election day.
The fact of the matter is that it is not safe for any minority to openly tout conservative principles without getting ridiculed and called out by other minorities and Democrats. We see this all the time.
Look at the hate that is spewed at Justice Clarence Thomas and Senator Tim Scott (R-S.C.). The things I have read on Senator Scott’s posts are sickening, but his approach has inspired other minority conservatives to start openly speaking about their beliefs.
The bottom line here is that minorities are sick and tired of being used and want people who can deliver for them.
For all the racist accusations that were made against Trump, he actually did deliver for minority communities across the board, far better than any recent Democrat had done. They were not getting more in entitlement benefits but instead going back to work and earning from opportunities created during that administration.
Republicans need to pounce on this opportunity, and not by just making promises, but actually delivering. Go into these communities, listen to what these people are saying, and offer an opportunity for them, not just a handout, and it will work.
If we can encourage more minorities, and not just black voters, but all minority voters, to come forward and defend them against the hateful attacks of Democrats who feel betrayed by their conservative outlook, the Democrat Party will get crushed.
But again, you must deliver on the promises made, so don’t offer things you cannot do, or we will find ourselves in the same position that Democrats are in now for using the same issues during every election cycle and never delivering on them.
