Whenever we see a conflict like this, there is bound to be fake news spread around.
Sadly, Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) became a part of that problem this weekend.
Sulaiman Ahmed is an investigative journalist and apparent Palestinian sympathizer.
He had posted a picture on X with the caption:
"CHILD GENOICIDE IN PALESTINE.
"614 Palestine children murdered by the Israeli IOF Forces."
Rep. Ilhan Omar retweeted the picture, clearly hoping to charge Israel with war crimes for killing children. She and other members of the Squad have openly stated their support for Palestinians during this conflict.
Ironically, a fellow Squad member had warned of posting misinformative pictures at this time, as you can see in the X post below…
You mean like this, @AOC? @IlhanMN is spreading dangerous misinformation, blaming Israel for killing kids who were killed by Assad in Syria 10 years ago.
Once again, the Squad doesn’t let the facts get in the way of their anti-Israel narrative. https://t.co/Ss1RitTpRZ pic.twitter.com/gJoho7cO4f

As noted in that tweet, the original picture featured in that post was from August 2013 in Syria, not Palestine.
Fox News contributor Guy Benson ripped the misinformation on "The Big Weekend Show."
He stated:
"She was claiming through that retweet that Israel had killed these children. And of course, the photo was from a decade ago in a different country. It was a lie. But her impulse, her instinct was to try to blame the Israelis for the death of children.
"Here's the sad part. Palestinian children have been killed already. More Palestinian children will be killed in the days to come. Cutting through the fog of war, it is important when we get those reports, verified or otherwise when that happens, is that Israel goes out of its way to avoid that, whereas Hamas goes out of its way to kill innocent people."
I wrote about this last week, stating how little I envied PM Netanyahu on this front.
The reality of this war is that there are going to be a lot of civilians killed on both sides.
Hamas could care less who it attacks in Israel, but they also hide in civilian areas and threaten residents who try to leave so they can remain protected.
Netanyahu had already warned Gaza that all civilians must leave the area before a planned attack, which is about all he can do.
The problem, however, is that nobody really seems to hold Hamas accountable, relatively speaking, yet they are coming down on Netanyahu when Gaza civilians are killed. He obviously cannot let these attacks go unanswered, which means civilians will die in Gaza.
This, sadly, is the nature of war in the Middle East, especially when dealing with a terrorist group that is anchored so deeply in one area.
This also means that Israel will have to start more ground assaults to root out Hamas, which means the war will take significantly longer to win, draining more assets from the United States and NATO countries.
We left Afghanistan, but now Biden has us involved in two wars that could potentially last for years. This is not by accident, either, as I firmly believe our enemies and adversaries are playing off Biden's weaknesses to drain our military assets and crush our economy.
